Naperville (Naper Settlement)

Naperville's first inhabitant was Capt. Joseph Naper, who came from Ohio in the winter of 1831. Naperville is nestled along the banks of the DuPage River, 30 miles west of Chicago. Naperville consistently ranks as a top community in the nation to live. Naperville has 2 public schools, Community Unit School District 203 located in Naperville for K-12 and Indian Prairie School District 204 in Aurora for K-12. Naperville offers more than 60 places of worship for various denominations providing numerous organizations and services. Naperville offers an array of senior services including senior housing, cell phones for seniors, adult day cares, Reverse 911 systems and severe weather pagers. Naperville Public Library operates 3 full service libraries in various sections of the city. Naperville Public Library has consistently ranked the #1 public library in the US in the population category of 100,000-249,000. Naperville has 2 museums providing educational entertainment, DuPage Children's Museum and Naper Settlement. Naperville boasts several musical choirs, clubs and orchestras that perform in Naperville and surrounding areas. Naperville's Magical Starlight Theatre and Summerplace Theatre provide entertainment for children and families. Naperville's parks provide scenic views and many fun ways to enjoy leisure time. Naperville's Cetennial Beach boasts over 2000 visitors on a warm summer day. Naperville's Riverwalk offers brick paths for walking along the DuPage River through downtown Naperville. Naperville's other recreational areas are DuPage Forest, more than 600 acres of shimmering lakes and 60 miles of rivers and streams; and DuPage River Trail, multi use trail for non-motorized public use that runs parallel to the DuPage River. Naperville works hard to preserve a unique blend of big city amenities and small town charm.

The diverse yet mostly modern subdivisions in Naperville are in Kane, DuPage and Will counties
