Oswego Illinois, once the tiny county seat for this rural midwestern County is now at the center of growth in the second fastest growing county in the United States. Oswego is located 50 miles southwest of Chicago and is located on the scenic Fox River.
The 2000 census count of 13,326 residents has continued to skyrocket after a special census in 2004 has Oswego at over 22,000. This growth has spurred a flurry of economic growth and opportunity for employment with the addition of several thousand jobs from the proposed new Wal-Mart and Target stores coming in along the Route 34 corridor. The new metra station and Walgreens along the Orchard Road corridor along with the new bridge across the Fox River continues to grow and prosper.
Oswego is less than an hours drive to Chicago and all the world renowned cultural icons that are synomosis with Chicago. Aurora University, North Central College, Illinois Benedictine College and Waubonsie Community College are all within 20 minutes.
There is affordable housing, quaint downtown shops and restaurants, a fully staffed library and abundant parks all of these amenities and many more make Oswego a clean, safe family oriented community with a high standard of life.
The 100 acre plus campus of Rush-Copley Hospital serves the community and is on the cities north side located on route 34.
